Town of Aurora in partnership with Aurora Black Community Association
Time & Location
Feb 01, 2022, 4:30 p.m.
Aurora Town Hall, Aurora, ON, Canada
About the Event
Black History Month is an important part of our Canadian history, to acknowledge and celebrate the contributions of Black Canadians and Afro-descendants in Canada.
The Pan-African flag-raising ceremony will be the start of an amazing Black History Month celebration.
This in itself is also historic for Aurora, because this is the first time a flag is being raised in celebration of Black History Month. This is a proud and humbling moment for Aurora Black Community Association to see the fruit of our deputation. Thanks to the Town for their committment because with that nothing happens.
Flag Raising Schedule:
Opening remarks by our Mayor & Councillor(s) Aurora Black Community Association President Phiona Durrant followed by the Town's Anti-Racism Taskforce Chair/Vice-Chair and the President of Aurora Black Causus
Closing remark by our Mayor.
