
What began as a grassroots movement led by the Aurora Black Community Association resulted in the Town of Aurora officially declaring February as Black History Month in September 2020—a lasting step toward recognition, inclusion, and truth.

Program Proposal: Allyship in Action – A Safe Space for Learning and Growth
Program Overview:The Allyship in Action program is designed to provide allies with a safe, judgment-free space to ask honest, uncomfortable, or uncertain questions about the Aurora Black Community (ABC), anti-racism, diversity, equity, and inclusion. This quarterly Zoom series encourages open dialogue, promotes education, and empowers allies to deepen their understanding and actively contribute to fostering an inclusive community.
Program Objectives:
Foster Learning: Provide a platform for allies to gain insights into anti-racism practices, ABC’s mission, and the importance of allyship in building inclusive communities.
Encourage Dialogue: Create a space where participants feel safe to ask questions without fear of judgment or backlash, promoting honest and productive conversations.
Strengthen Allyship: Equip participants with actionable steps and resources to become effective allies in their workplaces, schools, and communities.
