About Us

Our Mission

The Aurora Black Community Association fosters equity and humanity through educational programming, mentorship, and community-led events. We address systemic injustice by building meaningful civic partnerships, recognizing that ‘racism and injustice does not recognize borders’ and our mandate is not limited by geography. Through proactive outreach and advocacy, we bridge cultures to build safer, more accountable, and connected communities for everyone.

Our Visions

To foster a world where human dignity and equity are upheld through proactive leadership and community-led accountability, anchored in our local roots but reaching wherever injustice exists because humanity knows no borders and wrong is wrong anywhere in the world.

Our Story

The Aurora Black Community Association (ABC) was born out of a pivotal moment of global awakening. Founded in the wake of the 2020 solidarity march following the murder of George Floyd, our organization grew from simple kitchen-table conversations into a registered non-profit rooted in healing, connection, and action.
Our work is deeply influenced by the legacy of Nelson Mandela, particularly his focus on reconciliation, forgiveness, and the inherent dignity of the human spirit. We believe that the “humanity we bring to positions of power” is essential for true progress, and we strive to model this through consistent “presence, dialogue, mutual respect, and accountability”. Under the motto “One Vision, Diverse Voices,” we are committed to dismantling anti-Black racism and empowering the Aurora community through inclusion, celebration, and collective responsibility.
While our heart is in Aurora, we believe that “beyond nationality and geography, wrong is wrong anywhere in the world”. Because “racism does not recognize borders,” we are compelled to care, to speak, and to act wherever “human dignity is being threatened”. We are a proactive movement, choosing to build differently and move beyond the cycle where society only reacts after tragedy strikes.
